The Bookshop Darlinghurst has been part of Sydney's queer life for more than forty years, long enough to watch the city, the politics, and the community reshape themselves again and again. Since 1982, it's stocked queer literature while homosexuality was still criminalised. Kept shelves full through the AIDS crisis. Stayed open through fights for marriage equality, trans rights, same-sex adoption and IVF access. For decades it's done something simple but quietly radical: put queer stories in people's hands and make them feel at home while they browse.
